Oct 22, 2020 Vermeer's Paintbrush is used to complete a side quest in Genshin Impact. This guide will help players with locating the paintbrush in the game. Genshin Impact continues to be one of the biggest games out right now.

One of the most rewarding world quests in Genshin Impact is the Luhua Landscape quest, which offers players three chests as a reward for finding the the renowned artist Vermeer's paintbrush.

In order to start the quest you need to talk to Vermeer at Luhua Pool, and it is recommended to start this quest at least at Level 30. He will ask you to bring back his tools, which will allow you to unlock the way into the Luhua ruins that contain the reward chests.

Vermeer's Paintbrush Locations

There are two Vermeer's paintbrush locations, which can be found on the opposite sides of the Luhua Pool (see the map above for the exact spots).

There you will find two backpacks filled with paints and paintbrushes. Take both of them and bring them back to Vermeer.

This will allow you to proceed with the rest of the Luhua landscape quest.

Defeat Abyss Mages

After talking to Vermeer you need to investigate the stone markers on the terrace ponds. These strange stones you will find need to be inserted into the two statues at Luhua Pool.

Then, use a Geo skill (Noelle's shield will do in a pinch) to activate the central monument of the ruins at Luhua Pool. This will open up the doors into the ruins.

Inside the ruins you will face three abyss bosses:

  • Cryo Mage
  • Hydro Mage
  • Pyro Mage

Defeat all three of them and collect the loot from the three chests that will be unlocked as a reward of the ruins.

Despite its open world exterior, Genshin Impact is at its core a Gacha game, and this means that players can reroll their starting wish to get the most optimal character available. Unfortunately, the process for doing so in this game is much more time consuming and extensive than in most Gacha games, so players will have to make individual judgements about whether or not it's worth the effort.

Additionally, there have been some reports of Genshin Impactplayers getting banned for excessively rerolling characters, making the whole ordeal rather risky. With that in mind, it's best to only reroll a few times at most, though this may not result in the desired character.

Assuming players are comfortable with taking that risk of getting banned and putting in the time required, there are a few things players will need to know in order to re-roll to get the best characters. This process will get easier overtime as players begin to be able to quickly grind through the beginning portion of the game.

For starters, it's worth saying that resetting on PC or Mobile is much easier than doing so on PS4, as progress is linked to the player's PSN account rather than a random email. This means that in order to reroll, players would need to make an entirely new PSN account. By contrast, deleting the app and/or making a new account on mobile is much easier. In order to reroll, players will need to play through the beginning of the game until they reach Adventure Rank 5, a process that can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on how comfortable they are with the intro.

When rerolling for characters to explore Genshin Impact's open world with, the ultimate goal should be to get a 5 star character. Some of the better ones include Duluc, Jean, Keqing, Mona, Qiqi, and Venti. That said, the chances of getting a 5 star character at all are very low, so players may end up having to settle with a decent 4 star unless they're willing to dedicate a lot of time and a potential ban to getting a 5 star instead. This sort of answers the question of whether or not players should bother rerolling for characters.

Ultimately, as the process is against miHoYo's rules, it's best to just forgo this practice. Though it is tempting to try and give oneself a head start in any Gacha game, players will have plenty more chances to make wishes in Genshin Impactand get new characters, and the Star Glitter system makes getting duplicates much less frustrating.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.
